HomeSchoolers Arrive!

Homeschoolers Coop for 3-6 year olds meets Wednesdays 9:30 to noon. Some free play, a simple craft, a story followed by a snack.

Today we made a collage of a children’s village. Each child either cut and pasted, drew or collaged a scene of their home, who lives there, pets etc details were great one child drew himself playing with his mothers jewelry box another drew her litttle brother on his stick horsey! Then they explained them to the group as we stuck them on a larger board.

The story today was a favorite of ours Elisa Kleven’s “The Lion and the Little Red Bird” It is a story of a sweet friendship between a bird and a lion. As with all her books AMAZING detailed illustrations, The artwork is done by using three dimensional collage mixed with color on paper. We also “heart” her “The Paper Princess”

As we work up to a dusting of snow……a tradition in my house on the first snow of the year is to read Raymond Briggs “The Snowman” so we brought it with us. A classic, simple, and sooo sweet. A wordless story illustrated in pencil. You can also purchase the magical sound track.

Our little snowmen activity (pictured above) followed this book.
